When the women’s footwear company he led as president was sold to another company, Dave Wollman faced a crossroads in his career. Jump back into another position there and keep traveling the world at a breakneck pace? Or pursue what he really wanted to do?
“I enjoyed the women's shoe business, don't get me wrong,” says Dave. “But, I really wasn't scratching the itch — which was beginning to get bigger and bigger — to make a positive impact on this world, or satisfying the need that I had to really help people.”
Dave went with his heart’s desire and chose the latter. After having cared for his aging parents and in-laws, Dave was familiar with the senior care industry. His research led him straight to Touching Hearts. Immediately, Dave was impressed with our values and integrity.
Dave recalls, “I wanted to find a company to work with that wouldn’t require me to compromise the way I thought a business should be run from a values and integrity standpoint. Boy, did I ever find it with Touching Hearts. It's just been a phenomenal marriage. I've been proud to be part of the organization, representing them and their model, and carrying their vision right through into the vision of my company, which are perfectly aligned.”
Dave’s franchise opened in June 2014 in Yardley, Pennsylvania. His growth in a little more than three years has exceeded his expectations and projections.
The lower costs of Touching Hearts ownership helped Dave see a profit more quickly than if he’d franchised with other companies. Touching Hearts’ estimated initial costs range from $48,400 to $69,100, making it an affordable and accessible opportunity for many aspiring business owners.
Industry-wide, non-medical, in-home senior care is a booming business as the number of seniors continues to climb to a projected 75 million by the year 2030. Dave has no doubt his Touching Hearts franchise — and others like his — will inevitably grow to answer the overwhelming demand.
“I've been proud to be part of the organization, representing them and their model, and carrying their vision right through into the vision of my company, which are perfectly aligned.” - Dave Wollman, Touching Hearts Franchisee.
“There is enough business for everyone,” says Dave, “but if you’re focused on quick, healthy growth and you're running a good business in this sector, I mean, the sky’s the limit.”
Although Dave appreciates the many financial benefits of Touching Hearts at Home franchise ownership, he says it’s the intrinsic rewards that really confirm he’s finally working exactly where he’s meant to be.
“The lower startup costs and earning potential are pluses, but they wouldn’t have made any difference if everything else with Touching Hearts hadn’t been right — but it was,” says Dave. “I love putting a smile on people's faces and helping people go from a stressful life to a relaxed life, to a happy life. Every day when I go home knowing I have had such a positive impact on more lives, I'm just at peace. It's a wonderful thing. I don't necessarily view my business as ‘I need to do this many dollars or to achieve this’; I just want to help as many people as I can. Everything else takes care of itself. That's my fundamental goal.”
